What is it?
A pre-apprenticeship course is a stepping stone into the industry of your choice.
It’s a preparatory course that provides a blend of theory and hands-on experience in a simulated workplace environment.
A pre-apprenticeship is a great way to try out a particular job or industry before committing to a full-time apprenticeship or traineeship, plus you’ll learn lots of handy skills. At Skillinvest, we offer pre-apprenticeships in Building and Construction, Electrical and Plumbing – usually resulting in the attainment of a Certificate II course.
Am I eligible?
Pre-apprenticeship courses may be undertaken while you are still at school (as part of VET in Schools) or after you have completed school and are looking to enter the workforce. You must be at least 15 years of age and enrolled in secondary school. If you are under 18 years of age you may also require the permission of a parent or guardian.
Why Skillinvest?
Competition for full-time apprenticeships is fierce and our consultants are always on the look-out for top candidates to be placed into part-time and full-time apprenticeships. Being well prepared and starting your training and skills development at school or through a pre-apprenticeship will make you stand out and give you an advantage over other applicants!
Whether you just want to specialise in a particular area or run your own business one day, Skillinvest will help create a customised employment and training pathway to achieve your career dreams, from school through to training and employment.
Benefits
Completion of a pre-apprenticeship course will help you:
- Prepare for the working environment in your chosen industry
- Learn practical skills and improve or refresh existing skills
- Pave the way for a part-time or full-time apprenticeship
Other Apprenticeships and Traineeships
Many students who transition successfully into a full-time trade apprenticeship have often started their training during secondary school by completing a VET in Schools or VCAL course, a pre-apprenticeship, school-based apprenticeship, or a combination of these.
