Civil Construction Apprenticeship

  • Advancing apprenticeship wages, 9.5% Superannuation plus 4 weeks per annum annual leave
  • Working Outdoors with a dynamic team
  • A full time, three-year placement that will provide formal on the job training

Our Company

The Department of Transport combines 3 companies to give us a singular, integrated focus on tackling road maintenance and upgrades with this current position available in Donald.


  • Traffic controller duties - involving prolonged periods of standing
  • Working on feet for most of the day, prolonged periods walking/standing
  • Working on hard surfaces such as concrete and asphalt for prolonged periods
  • Walking/standing on steep/sloping/uneven surfaces, climbing stairs/ladders
  • Loading/unloading signs/equipment/material on/off truck
  • Sign erection - involving lifting and holding signs above shoulder height
  • Filling, lifting, and placing items up to 25kg
  • Handling/operating equipment in confined/awkward positions
  • Removing dead animals (such as kangaroos)
  • Digging, shoveling, sweeping, crowbar, jackhammers, electric drills, angle grinders, chainsaws, sledgehammers
  • Compaction plate/wacker rammer

Skills and Experience

  • Willing to undertake an apprenticeship to fulfil the requirements of Certificate III in Civil Construction.
  • A current Victorian driver's licence
  • Willingness to obtain a Medium Rigid licence (mandatory) or Heavy Rigid Licence (desirable)
  • Willing to undertake mandatory pre-screening test including medical assessment, drug and alcohol screening, driver history checks and reference checks.
  • Construction induction card
  • Traffic management certification
