Community VCAL Wellbeing Officer

  • Part-time Position based in Dandenong
  • Salary $65,528 (pro-rata)

Reporting to the Community VCAL Coordinator, the primary role of the position is to service the welfare and wellbeing of the VCAL students by establishing supportive relationships and interacting with them according to individual needs. This position will promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students, including those who have experienced trauma, encouraging students to interact and engage in classroom activities.

Key Responsibilities of this position may include:

  • Networking and liaising with external agencies and professionals
  • Provision of general welfare response for all VCAL students
  • Maintenance of accurate and up to date student case notes and files
  • Provision of advocacy of referrals to other agencies to obtain appropriate assistance for students
  • Participate in collaborative student behaviour management in conjunction with VCAL Educators

Our successful applicant must have:

  • Relevant qualifications in Counselling/Psychology
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Employee Working with Children Check
  • Australian Federal Police Check

The successful applicant must have a demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the barriers disadvantaged youth face when at risk of disengaging or have disengaged from education. An understanding of the social, cultural, economic and educational features of the region and the impact these have on youth and their families.

Relevant experience in dealing with disadvantaged youth is a strong advantage in this role.
