Skillinvest has an opportunity for motivated and eager-to-learn candidates to join the team at our host employer Greater Western Water (GWW), in the Field Maintenance team as a Trainee. Positions are based in the Melton and Sunbury Depot.

This exciting opportunity will provide hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of water and sewer systems while learning valuable skills for a successful career in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair and Maintain Networks: Assist in repairing and maintaining water and sewerage networks, ensuring the delivery of clean water and the effective disposal of wastewater.
- Leak Repairs: Help repair leaks on water meters, stop taps, and service pipes, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our water distribution system.
- Operate Equipment: Learn to operate various power tools, plant machinery, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer networks.
- Understand Operational Plans: Gain experience reading and navigating operational asset plans, which are vital for identifying and troubleshooting system issues.
- Job Reporting and Record-Keeping: Use mobility tools for job reporting and maintaining accurate records of maintenance tasks, ensuring up-to-date and organized documentation.
- Fault Finding: Develop and apply fault-finding skills to diagnose issues in water and sewer networks, working to resolve problems efficiently and minimize downtime.
- Training and Development: Receive on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced operators, with opportunities to gain valuable knowledge and skills in water and sewerage operations
Requirements:
- A strong interest in learning and developing technical skills in the water and sewerage industry.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures in the workplace.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A valid driver's license is a requirement.
Successful candidate must be willing and able to pass the following pre-employment checks:
- Police Check
- Medical assessment including drug & alcohol screening
