On the Job Training for Students

On the Job training is one of the most practical ways to learn; an employee trained within their own working environment where they can use the equipment and tools required to carry out their role will in most cases be more advanced than those having simulated the experience in a classroom environment.

Specific job training can be assigned to the student, their supervisors and more experience staff can provide guidance while they learn. They’ll gain more confidence in their work as well as the supervisor being able to guide them towards doing the job correctly and being on hand to point out any errors and to give feedback. When the Skillinvest trainer comes onsite for training and assessment the student is more familiar with their environment and more comfortable in their actions.

While it is necessary in some industries to attend trade blocks and/or classroom based learning, the ability to return the next day/week to the workplace allows the student to implement their learnings in a realistic environment.

Skillinvest trainers provide their undivided attention during training sessions with a one on one method however classroom based learning often has a ratio of 20 to 1 with trainer contact time shared across all students.
