How have you recently helped someone looking for work?

I recently helped Jennifer, one of my clients, into her dream job as a professional dog groomer at Spot and Fluff Grooming in Bairnsdale. Jennifer was experiencing difficulties finding employment since COVID-19 and required some additional support. Her love for animals made this an ideal opportunity, and having support before and after landing the job meant this was an easy transition back into the workforce for her.

Has anything surprised you in your work as a Jobs Victoria Mentor?

I thought that I had a good understanding of the employment system and services, but I have been truly blown away by what is available. Not only what is available to help people find work, but also for employers who are looking for the right candidate.

What is your advice to someone looking for work?

My advice is to not be afraid to reach out to support services like us, we are here to help in any way that we can. Even if you think you are not job-ready yet, we will listen to your needs, work with you to address any barriers, and find the perfect opportunity for you.
