Shaun Bloomfield has received an award from the Royal Humane Society of Australasia at the Annual Bravery Awards Presentation held at Government House on 15 December 2015. Shaun received the Certificate of Merit in recognition of his actions that contributed to the rescue of a man and his son caught in a rip at Port Fairy.

Shaun and his best mate Sam Young became aware that the man and his son were in difficulty, and swam approximately 300m offshore to rescue the pair. Leading Senior Constable Andrew Payne, who arrived shortly after, then swam out approximately 200m to assist in the rescue. Shaun, Sam and Andrew were all awarded the Certificate of Merit for their actions.

Earlier this month Shaun completed his automotive apprenticeship specialising in agricultural equipment and is now on staff of O’Connors Farm Machinery (Horsham branch). Congratulations Shaun.
