Skillinvest has an exciting opportunity for two committed and motivated candidates to undertake a full‑time Farm Hand Traineeship with a local family‑owned farming business located in Nurcoung, approximately 20 minutes west of Natimuk. As a Skillinvest trainee, you will receive ongoing mentoring and support while gaining hands‑on experience and completing a Certificate III in Agriculture. This traineeship offers a diverse range of farm work, with the majority of duties involving Mixed cropping, Domestic and export hay and straw production, in addition to assisting with a small livestock operation. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about agriculture, keen to learn, and ready to build a long‑term career in the farming industry.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Mixed cropping and hay establishment and management
  • Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment
  • All areas of sheep management, including feeding and stock health
  • Performing general farm maintenance and upkeep including fencing, trough maintenance and general groundskeeping.

 IS THIS YOU?

  • Genuine interest in mixed cropping and livestock whilst understanding realities of variable hours and seasonal demands
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Have effective communication skills and able to follow instructions
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Willingness to commit to work and study
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable transport preferred but not essential

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION

To be eligible to receive an Apprenticeship or Traineeship and the government funding, candidates must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia. New Zealand citizens must have resided in Australia for over 6 months to be eligible.
