Skillinvest has an exciting opportunity for two committed and motivated candidates to undertake a full‑time Farm Hand Traineeship with a local family‑owned farming business located in Nurcoung, approximately 20 minutes west of Natimuk. As a Skillinvest trainee, you will receive ongoing mentoring and support while gaining hands‑on experience and completing a Certificate III in Agriculture. This traineeship offers a diverse range of farm work, with the majority of duties involving Mixed cropping, Domestic and export hay and straw production, in addition to assisting with a small livestock operation. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about agriculture, keen to learn, and ready to build a long‑term career in the farming industry.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Mixed cropping and hay establishment and management
- Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment
- All areas of sheep management, including feeding and stock health
- Performing general farm maintenance and upkeep including fencing, trough maintenance and general groundskeeping.
IS THIS YOU?
- Genuine interest in mixed cropping and livestock whilst understanding realities of variable hours and seasonal demands
- Willingness to learn and adapt
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
- Able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
- Have effective communication skills and able to follow instructions
- Reliable and punctual
- Willingness to commit to work and study
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport preferred but not essential

To be eligible to receive an Apprenticeship or Traineeship and the government funding, candidates must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia. New Zealand citizens must have resided in Australia for over 6 months to be eligible.
