Skillinvest is currently seeking a motivated Casual Community Safety Officer for an exciting opportunity in Horsham. This role plays a key part in keeping the community safe, informed and well supported. If you enjoy hands‑on work and are passionate about contributing to your local community, this could be a great fit for you.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Support community safety by educating the public about local laws and stepping in to enforce them when required
  • Investigate complaints and incidents, gather information, write reports and assist with legal processes
  • Respond to community enquiries in a friendly, timely and professional manner
  • Handle and care for animals, including assisting with operations at the local animal pound
  • Build strong relationships with residents, businesses and community groups to improve safety, parking access and local amenity

IS THIS YOU?

  • Certificate IV in Animal Management, Local Government, Statutory Compliance or similar — or relevant experience
  • Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to stay calm, de‑escalate conflict and work well with people from all backgrounds
  • Comfortable working with animals and understanding their behaviour
  • Strong administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence, Working with Children Check, First Aid certificate and the ability to pass police, medical and psychometric checks
