Skillinvest’s Lift Off program was nominated for a Service Excellence Award at the recent AEN (Apprentice Employment Network) Awards Dinner. This Award is presented to a staff member, or team/group of staff for a demonstrated outstanding contribution to the success in the running of a program in the training and employment space.
Lift Off was announced as the 2017 winner!
The Lift Off program is run out of the Balla Balla Community Centre in Cranbourne through Metro’s RTO. It is a re engagement program for students in years 7, 8 &9, designed to transition students back into education through a flexible, safe and non-threatening environment. Students will work towards completion of a Certificate I in General Education for Adults (Introductory). Participants have been identified as disengaging from school due to high levels of anxiety/emotional distress, depression, or other mental health issues or family disruption.
The success of this program is only possible through the support of the program partners and referring schools, who contribute their time and services to ensure the students receive the much needed help to re-engage back into education, these are: Balla Balla Community Centre, Navigator, Uniting Connections, Janne Dempster (Manager Youth Pathways and Transition – Dep of Ed), Berwick Secondary College, Alkira Secondary College, KooWeeRup Secondary College, Lyndhurst Secondary College, Doveton College and Cranbourne East Secondary College and their wellbeing team, who not only refer to the program but were the initial instigators of the program and continue to provide the monthly meeting venue.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the development, implementation and ongoing success of the program. With a particular mention to Tracey and Ellie (Lift Off Trainer) for their continued efforts to re engage the students. Winning this award is a testament to the hard work and dedication towards this program
This is the second consecutive year Skillinvest has won the Excellence award with the Regional Agriculture Trainee Program winning in 2016. A fantastic achievement!
